Go to the AMP CE Center: http://www.amphome.org/cecenter for CE training.
The national practitioner's association (National Alliance of Professional Providers in Psychology) in psychology (www.nappp.org ), one of our affiliated organizations has kindly offered the below CE courses relevant to our discipline. We appreciate their continued support of psychology practitioners and practice specialties!
There are several continuing education courses available to members. Those who complete the three courses will earn a certificate in basic psychopharmacology. Please email Dr. Jerry Morris (email: cmhjerry@sbcglobal.net ) if you would like additional information on the courses.
The following CE courses are available:
- Introduction To Medical Psychology
- Medical Terminology
- Introduction To Pharmacotherapeutics
- Upon completion, each course awards 3 CE credit hours. Credit is awarded by NAPPP. NAPPP is an approved sponsor of continuing education for psychologists by the American Psychological Association. NAPPP retains responsibility for the course and its contents.
Core courses (CE with APA and AMP credits) to see courses in our approved Medical Psychology Certification Program which is one route to the educational requirements for Board Certification: "click here". Recognizing that many licensed, experienced, and essential community resource doctors of psychology can not travel to post doctoral graduate training in essential elements such as psychopharmacology, and that such travel would result in lack of coverage in their facilities and communities (especially rural and inner city), AMP has devised a track of courses, all taught by highly qualified Board Certified Medical Psychologists with teaching experience and many with some of the top science and healthcare service records in the world, that will aid in qualification and preparation for board certivication (on line coursework). We will establish additional CEs that meet the core requirements, and supplement them by adding specilized CEs such as subsntace abuse treatment, geropsych treatment, neuropsychological treatment, hypnoses and biofeedback and stress managment treatment, lifestyle counseling, the treatment of obesity, the treatment of hypertension, psychological and other non-medical pain management treatment, disease prevention, etc. Our aim is to assist future Medical Psychologists with another path to board certification! This path does not replace or nullify the traditional path toward board certification (which includes either a post graduate degree program, or a comprehensive CE program recognized by the Board. It is simply another alternative. All applicants for board certification will continue to have to sit for both the Oral and Written Eaminations and to document a preceptorship or residency that is post doctoral and acceptable to the board. All applicants for board certification should keep in mind that board certification in Medical Psychology subsumes Post Doctoral training in medical psychology, which includes and is not limited to psychopharmacology. A medical psychologist is very different than a psychopharmacologist (proficiency and not a specialty). Wile many psychologists in the future will have some pre-doctoral basic science, psychopharmacology, health psychology, substance abuse, rehabilitation psychology, neuropsychology, and prevention courses-TRAINING IN THE SPECIALTY OF MEDICAL PSYCHOLOGY IS POST DOCTORAL AND AMPLIFIES DOCTORAL TRAINING AND CLINICAL EXPERIENCE!
The AMP, our newsletter is now available on the web site. This newsletter will keep you up on the latest links to relevant science, advocacy, and organizational news relative to our specialty and interest area!

AMP has a refereed professional journal that is essential to keeping our members and others in psychology and medical care informed about Integrated Care Practice and Collaborative Healthcare. This Journal provides excellent information and continuing education for our members.
